dog friendly postings from Oliver
I think dogs from big families(more than one dog) have it made, especially when their owners enjoy taking dog-friendly vacations.
There is that car ride to an exciting new spot, and then the chance to explore a brand new world together as a pack! For myself, the closest I come to this these days, is when I can have my pals around. I like having my best pals, like Jackson, Sophie and the Lope in the country with me.
But what I really enjoy is when a car of new friends arrive for a visit! Its like meeting “old” new friends, and once I start telling about whats around we all get excited together. Its the “best” as they say! This weekend Bosco, Daisey and the O’Leary’s came for a visit, along with Lope. We outnumbered the humans. And since we had newbies, we immediately got to show them our favorite walks, and secrets.
Extra dogs means I get to show them the trails to the waterfall, and some of the other special dog friendly spots in our neighborhood. Then they understand why I like my dog friendly vacations at the Russian River.
One of the everyone’s favorite is the creek. (Michael calls it the beach.) All of us go the “secret path” (guarded by my pal Charlie), and pick “our” spot on Austin Creek.
Usually me and my pals take off along the stream bank, chasing away the ducks from our swimming spot. For a while its hard to settle down, its so exciting to see all that running water! But eventually even the youngest of my pals and I always hunker down panting, and smiling. We can sit and watch the running water for hours, and sometimes we even take naps there.
Besides “our beach” on Austin Creek, there is another in Monte Rio, where all the locals hang out. Its the main beach for dogs, before you get to the big one, the Pacific. This part of the Russian River is so dog friendly and you really want to vacation here.
