Dont miss eating at Sam’s
I watched over the last couple of months, while an old restaurant in Monte Rio was receiving some past due love and attention. I would go by, and there would be new curtains, and then one day even the small garden and parking area got true home loving. It was the beginning of Sam’s Holey Cow Restaurant, and I declare it a hit!
Joanne at Sam’s makes everyone feel at home. She and Becky are really the front of the show. Poor Sam doesnt get out from behind the stove too often, which is a good thing. The food he is cooking is the greatest. They really limit their menu right now to breakfast and lunch. And both meals are fantastic. There is no real secret, they grow almost everything. Oatmeal is ground everyday for the pancakes, and salads come right out of the ground in the morning. You cant beat fresh and when you mix in genuine hospitality, its a real pleasure to share a meal at the Holey Cow.
When you go back twice to Sam’s you will find they remember you, and your name. Joanne shared our table the other morning on our second visit. We all regaled each other with stories, and Joanne made each dish sound more perfect. I had the pancakes, which were truly amazning, and Thom a made to order omellette. Omlettes at Sam’s outshine my experiences in the past.
Now lunch at Sams has a big range. But it was our first meal there and both of us went with suggestions from Joanne. Burgers, mine with spicey sauce and onion rings, and Thom’s, a cheese burger with cheese in it. I think the pictures do a better job, but its not like tasting them. Go.
