Besides “our beach” on Austin Creek, there is another in Monte Rio, where all the locals hang out. Its the main beach for dogs, before you get to the big one, the Pacific. This part of the Russian River is so dog friendly and you really want to vacation here.

I like the “small town” comraderie of the “Castro”, and its probably one of the reasons I enjoy the Russian River. The Russian River is a collection of small towns, and the same community spirit.
Great changes for spring at the Russian River
February and March are really great months to spend in the Sonoma and Russian River area. Spring is beginning, with all the blossoms and color that is so typical of our area.
