Friday night in the Redwoods

I have started taking my “alternative” route home to Elements. It adds a little extra time behind the wheel, but it gives me a chance to stock up with what is best in Sonoma Valley produce and delictables. Highway 116 takes time; but it also puts you back in touch with the country and amazing vistas that you cant see when you are doing seventy miles an hour in a cocoon.
The weather really dominates day to day life. Rain in the Redwoods (and especially Cazadero) can be of biblical proportion
Cazadero gets 19.26 inches of rain in three days
The first storms of the year in Cazadero hold an attraction for me; I love the drama of nature. When the forecasters predict a storm I am like a “storm chaser”, I grab the dog and head to Elements and Cazadero.
The great news is that the rains have begun. And with them our stream and waterfalls are beginning to resume their yearly existence.
Fall is full of changes this year around the Russian River.
regular returning guests that it was almost like a family reunion, all summer long
Just getting to Jenner from Elements, “gets you in the mood” to explore. As you drive down River Road, you pass through a pastoral countryside .
There is always something do when you are staying up at the Russian River. Although I am always tempted to do nothing but enjoy the sunshine and relax and read in the shade under a redwood; there is always temptation in the neighborhood.
