Bad weather is good for cooking
When it rains at the river its time to cook,
When its winter in Northern California there is no getting around the rain. That takes on additional significance when you live in Sonoma Country, and the Russian River; Cazadero is ground center for rain, its just heavier rain not longer. And since we are coastal, Cazadero gets the fresher part of the storm. Its more exciting!
This year the stream at Elements went from dry to overflowing. Its mother nature at her best and it starts a quiet background noise of rushing water. There are endless ways to spend time, but nothing beats a movie on the sofa with the dog.
Hudson doesnt fit the usual chair
Hudson (the dog) seems to think that an empty sofa seems wrong. And if anyone should sit down, why naturally they would want canine company. The timing of that decision and its impact is not lost, since Hudson ways an adorable 93 pounds. But on a cold rainy day, he is the ideal snuggle partner on the sofa. With the new streaming video, Roku, I can spend the afternoon lost in movies and snacking on demand.
Or I cook, and sort of do all three. I find cooking productive and restful. When I am taking time off, I like finding new recipes. Epicurious has become my favorite application on the Ipad. The electronic age has really brought me back into the kitchen. The easy layout of the kitchen allows one research station, and I literally can take in the breathtaking storm while I cook and. And every now and then you get that look from Hudson, that says, land a while. There isnt a better way to spend a rainy getaway than doing all three. But then not everyone has a dog waiting.
